Webinar: Preserving Family Heirlooms- Working with Photos, Letters and Textiles

In this webinar, museum director LeAnne Johnson will explore simple tips and tricks that can aid in preserving family artifacts at home. From old photographs and handwritten letters to flashy hats and army uniforms, Ms. Johnson will discuss how to preserve and safely store items using basic household resources.

About the Presenter: LeAnne started her career at Eastern Carolina University working for ECU’s Special Collections and Archives, while earning her Bachelor’s of Science in Public History. After graduation, she went on to work at Colonial Williamsburg as a costumed interpreter and program specialist. Her focus was on life at Carter’s Grove Mansion and educational tours in the town of Colonial Williamsburg. In 2004 she moved back to North Carolina to work at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC. LeAnne worked in many different jobs at the NC Transportation Museum, but ended her 16-year career there serving as the collections manager. She is currently the Executive Director of the Swannanoa Valley Museum and History Center. LeAnne was born in Winston Salem, NC and was raised in Todd, NC.
