Historic Documentary Series: Artus Moser of Buckeye Cove

May 16, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Free

Our May film is “Artus Moser of Buckeye Cove” (1985). Joan Moser, daughter of Mr. Moser, will speak briefly about her father’s work.

From the Appalshop Website: “Artus Moser, ‘a Renaissance man of the mountains,’ was born in 1894, and grew up on the Biltmore Estate near Asheville, North Carolina, where his father was a forester. This program explores the richness and variety of his long life as an early collector of ballads for the Library of Congress, as a teacher, singer, storyteller, actor, painter, sculptor, gardener, naturalist, and husband and father. Artus Moser of Buckeye Cove paints an appealing portrait of a unique collector and performer of North Carolina mountain music.”

This event is free and open to the public, but we have limited seating so we ask that you RSVP below.
