Learn to build a sustainable bamboo geodesic dome with instructors from Appalachian State University. Buckminster Fuller, an American architect, systems theorist, author, designer, and inventor, was a key figure at Black Mountain College where he would erect the first geodesic dome in the late 1940s. Fuller had been considering forms of shelter that used less material and energy than traditional buildings and his goal was to construct a 48-foot dome based on “energetic-synergetic geometry.” Once erected the dome will remain at Town Square through December 1 as an art installation.
