Appalachian Experience: The Scots-Irish in Appalachia (online)

While many in our region claim Scots-Irish heritage and generally acknowledge the role the Scots Irish played in the settlement and cultural development of the Southern Appalachian region, this presentation will provide a deeper understanding of who the Scots Irish were, where they came from, why they came, how they got here, and how they left their mark on our region.
Cost: $8 for museum members and $12 for nonmembers. Some fees apply. All registrants will receive a zoom link to the event.
About the Presenter: Jane MacMorran is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Appalachian Studies at East Tennessee State University where she serves as Director of the Appalachian, Scottish, and Irish Studies Program. She is a former United States National Scottish Fiddling Champion and serves as a judge for Scottish fiddle competitions across the U.S. Jane earned her PhD from the University of Aberdeen (Scotland) in 2018.
